This painting shows a figure within the redwood forest, which is being bathed in dappled light. This forest is known as Roy’s Redwoods preserve and is a wonderful little forest in Marin county, CA. I wanted to convey the feeling of being in the forest and seeing the intensely bright sunlight coming through the canopy and down onto the trees. It’s incredible how bright the sun can be when you’re in these forests. These redwood trees and truly amazing and this particular forest has trees which are over 300 years old.
