Meadow of the Giants

This meadow is within the Roy’s Redwoods preserve in Marin county. It’s an amazing little place to visit, incredibly peaceful. Next to the meadow is a small forest filled with amazing redwood trees, which have inspired countless paintings I’ve done. In this painting, you can see a person walking in the meadow towards a giant redwood in the background. Everything about this painting is true to life and I enjoy making my paintings as close to reality as possible when I can.

I enjoy the memories and sharing the unbelievable beauty of nature with others through my paintings like this. The height of the redwood tree is nothing short of spectacular and I wanted to convey that in my painting. Adding human elements to my paintings truly helps to bring scale to scenes like this and humbles us humans. We tend to think we are in charge here but a scene like this is a little reminder that maybe that isn’t the case.
